In/Spectre (Japanese: 虚構推理, Hepburn: Kyokō Suiri), also known as Invented Inference, is a 2011 Japanese novel published by Kodansha and written by Kyo Shirodaira with illustrations by Hiro Kyohara. In 2019 it was republished with illustrations by Chasiba Katase as part of a series. A manga adaptation with art by Chasiba Katase has been serialized since April 2015 in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Shōnen Magazine R and since December 2019, also in Monthly Shōnen Magazine. It has been collected in eighteen tankōbon volumes. The manga is published in North America by Kodansha Comics. An anime television series adaptation produced by Brain's Base aired between January and March 2020, with the second season aired between January and March 2023.
On November 26, 2020, it was announced that the series will be receiving a second season. The staff are set to reprise their roles, with Kentarou Matsumoto replacing Takatoshi Honda as character designer and chief animation director. The series was scheduled to air in October 2022, but was later delayed. It aired from January 9 to March 27, 2023, on Tokyo MX and BS-NTV. The opening theme song is \"Yotogibanashi\" (ヨトギバナシ) by KanoeRana, while the ending theme song is \"Invincible Love\" by Mamoru Miyano.
Crunchyroll is streaming the 2nd season internationally in most territories. Crunchyroll is also directly one of the producers on the anime production committee since this TV show series is considered one of the Crunchyroll Originals.
The In/Spectre anime project is being helmed by director Keiji Gotou, who is best known for the Kiddy Grade series. Writer Noboru Takagi (Durarara!!, Golden Kamuy, Kingdom Season 3) is handling series composition. Kentarou Matsumoto, the animation director for the first season, will be replacing Takatoshi Honda as both the character designer and the chief animation director.
The In/Spectre anime has been popular on the Crunchyroll platform. Although streaming revenue is now the most significant factor influencing the decision to greenlight a second season, anime co-produced by Crunchyroll does not have the best record of seeing a sequel. 59ce067264
