Thank you Pastor Glen for encouraging me to share and write down what I learned from the Holy Spirit at Isaiah's Rock food bank on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Didn't even know what Isaiah's Rock was about and I was free on Wednesday, so I woke up earlier and arrived at 9:30, and met with Pastor Alan and brother Mario from Vineyard Pomona. Also met with a slim build brother who was volunteering that day.
Then we walked up to people around us and started praying for them. I felt nervous but Alan was natural and gracious in talking. He introduced ourselves to a boy named Rudy and illustrated Jesus' love and salvation for human being with a drawing of 3 circles. We prayed for Rudy that the Lord bring his Mexican father Rodolfo to reunite with him in city of Chino and give Rodolfo legal status in America. Later we met Rudy's mom and prayed the same thing. We also prayed for a senior Mexican lady who is suffering from diabetes for reduce in pain, vege diet and getting recovered.
Brother Mario and I moved on to pray for Gloria's knees getting healed, and Mario prayed in Spanish for a Mexican brother for his family.
Later on Alan's mom came and we teamed up to continue praying for people. We prayed for an African American family with 4 kids for their home or accommodation. Prayed for a lady with pain in upper back. She couldn't raise her arms above shoulders, and in about 30 minutes we saw her stretching out and smiling at us. Prayed for Korean mom Evelyn and her daughter Michelle with OCD and depression. We were tearing up and weeping after hearing her story. We all felt her sadness, broken heart and need for help from Lord. We cried a lot during praying. In the end we prayed for a mom with new born baby named Daniel.
People there are very faithful and calm. They came not only for food but also for the healing and presence of God. Even though they are in pain, they opened up and cried out to Lord for mercy. I am deeply touched by their faith. So glad that God's Spirit led me there to witness his glory and spend time with people.
God also has been calling me to write down my spiritual growth. The first time was Terra at Cornerstone small group. She suggested me to write down my thoughts and prayers when we were talking about prayer meeting. The second time was taught by Rick Warren to write down 5 purposes of life in our own language and understanding. Book quote: Thoughts disentangle themselves when they pass through fingertips. The third time was Cheryl Allen at first meeting of Catalyst school of ministry. She helped us to practice answering 2 questions by writing them down during that lecture. And the fourth time was on this morning when Pastor Glen emailed me while I was still in bed. He encouraged me to share what I've learned in the activation at Isaiah's Rock. The meat is definitely in the street!
Thank Lord for your direction and guidance!
Joe, this is so encouraging. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It sounds like an amazing place to meet with people and minister to them. You’ve encouraged us!
