Game Director Joe Shely told Polygon in a roundtable interview that "having your character appear to be an assortment of D2R Items choices you made leads to really interesting decisions, or at a minimum, intriguing opportunities."Shely stated she believes that the Diablo staff is cognizant that game players particularly in the beginning, don't have an understanding of the different classes' capabilities. Players are likely to want to play around.
"When you look at our respec system," Shely said, "which apply to both the skills tree as well as Paragon for levels later on that is our final game advancement system. We've really attempted to design it in a way that has the sense that the choice you make is important and that your character's not identical to everyone others, and that there is plenty of flexibility to try things out.
"You've been given the option to change the spec of a point by point. You just need to click to unspend a point and put it towards another item However, as you progress higher into levels, the price increases to make decisions a bit more thought-provoking. Of course, it is possible to also change the whole tree at once if you want to rebuild from the ground up."
Fergusson pointed out that as players go deeper and deeper into their character Diablo 2 Resurrected Items "the value of the game's currency respect is increasing and eventually you'll reach the point at which you're playing a degree 90 Barbarian and instead of completely redesigning my character, it's much better to just roll a new Barbarian and start over."
